Amy Plant, The Square Circle, 2005 - 2007

Commissioner: Slough Estates/ Segro Plc

On behalf of the client, Helen Hayward and I invited Amy Plant to work as artist-in-residence within the mixed-use regeneration of a site in Farnborough, Hampshire.

The artist set up a portacabin 'think tank' space which became the meeting room for a network of local community members brought together under the umbrella of 'the square circle'. Through a series of events including workshops and site-tours (as seen in the images below) the square circle produced a design proposal for the new public square, a central aspect of the development.

The project was supported by the Arts Council of England.
