ENGAGED Magazine 1994-1998

ENGAGED magazine appeared in the format of a t-shirt, a poster, a CD-Rom featuring the work of digital artists, a tin containing pop and found art, a video featuring the work of film-makers, and a series of radio broadcasts featuring sound-artists, poets and story-tellers.

This was a project I set-up as a small press, editing (with help from guest editors Philip Ilson and Martin Spinelli), producing, marketing and sourcing funding. The magazine was designed by David Rainbird.

The archive website is hosted as part of the Goldsmiths' Special Collections website and the magazine is held in a number of archives around the world and was featured in exhibitions, press reviews, and sold in bookshops internationally.

For full details including a demo of the digitally rendered public toilet interface of CD-ROM Issue 3, short extracts from the films of video Issue 5 and the mix of  (amongst others) DJ Spooky, Tim Etchells and The Frank Chickens in radio Issue 6 visit the archived website by clicking here.

ENGAGED was supported by London Arts Board and the Film and Video Development Agency.
